$NSM.ca Arizona Soil Geochemical Sampling Program Returns Elevated Copper-Molybdenum Values

Posted by Er at 1:14 PM on Tuesday, December 12th, 2017

    • Black Diamond Property borders Freeport McMoRan’s open pit operations.
    • Intensive Geochemical Survey recovered systematic soil samples on a 50-metre spaced grid
    • Significant anomalous Copper, Zinc and Silver values approach grades at which some deposits are mined
    • Elevated Copper in association with elevated Molybdenum levels, two metals found in association with porphyry copper environments.

Northern Sphere Mining Corp. (CSE: NSM) (OTCQB: NSMCF) (“Northern Sphere” or the “Company”) ‎is pleased to provide an update on its Geochemical Survey being conducted on its Black Diamond Property which borders the Porphyry Copper Mining District in Miami, Arizona.

Figure 1: Miami-Globe, Arizona — NSM’s Black Diamond Claims

Northern Sphere has undertaken an intensive Geochemical Survey over its 3,800-acre Black Diamond Property, located 12 km (8 miles) north-east of Freeport McMoRan’s Open Pit Copper Operations. The Geochemical Survey recovered systematic soil samples on a 50-metre spaced grid. Each sample was submitted to ALS Laboratories for a 51 Element Aqua-Regia digestion and ICP-MS finish.

The survey currently comprises of more than 600 samples from three prospective areas encompassing approximately 370 acres: (i) the Richmond Basin and site of historic underground silver mines, (ii) Buckeye South and (iii) Black Copper where previous outcrop sampling (outcrop samples were grab samples selectively taken within the mineralized structure and therefore are not representative of the entire mineralization) yielded copper values up to 7% (see Trueclaim Exploration Inc. press release of September 29, 2011).

Initial results from the first 250 geochemical samples taken in the Richmond Basin area delineated areas of anomalous (as defined by the values of the sample population greater than the 90th percentile) copper with some significantly anomalous results (exceeding the 98th percentile) as 1,040 parts per million (ppm), 522 ppm, and 340 ppm. Areas defined by anomalous silver were also noted with values reported as high as 344 grams per tonne (g/t) (see the Company’s prior press release of November 11, 2017).

Significantly anomalous copper, zinc and silver values approaching grades at which some deposits are mined is very encouraging. Previous exploration undertaken on the property limits the Company’s ability to gauge the background values for potential economic minerals and their relative proximity to the source bedrock.

Interpreting anomalous trends will be aided by exploration techniques and services which combine Hyper-Spectral Imaging, Geophysical Survey re-inversion, Digital Geologic Modelling, Artificial Intelligence which utilizes machine learning and mineral related algorithms to optimize mineral targeting.

A second soil survey area consisting of 224 samples collected from the Buckeye South area returned exceptional results defining areas with both anomalous copper (values greater than 123 ppm) and zinc (with value highs of 7,660 ppm, 4,820 ppm, and 4,770 ppm). Figure 2 depicts some of these anomalous trends.

Figure 2: NSM Black Diamond Soil Geochemical Survey

More recent geochemical soil sampling from the Black Copper area yielded excellent results. Forty-six percent of the 135 samples collected at this location have copper results that exceed 100 ppm (or 100 g/t). Notable copper values that were strongly anomalous (greater than 97th percentile) analyzed from this location resulted in 634 ppm, 503 ppm and 496 ppm.

Manganese levels indicated from the soil survey were anomalous with all sample results exceeding 100 ppm. Soils samples collected from the Black Copper area all had manganese levels exceeding 200 ppm (72 soil samples were in excess of 1,000 ppm or 0.1%). Manganese, which is often found in association with other notable metals such as lead, silver, zinc, copper and vanadium has been mined in the Globe-Miami, Arizona area. Although considered a “strategic mineral” in the United States, Manganese is predominantly sourced outside the United States, primarily from China and South Africa.

With ongoing Geochemical Survey activities, the Company anticipates that it will continue to identify significant metal anomalies on the property. Steve Gray, Vice President of Northern Sphere, states, “One of the more encouraging geochemical trends is the correlation between results indicating significantly elevated copper in association with elevated molybdenum levels, two metals found in association with porphyry copper environments.”

In support of a potential porphyry environment, O.M. Bishop mapped andesite porphyry in the Richmond Basin, while researching for his Master’s thesis, ‘Geology and Ore Deposits Richmond Basin, Gila County’.

Mr. Gray adds, “The Geochemical Survey covers only 10% of the Black Diamond Property and already we have encountered various significant anomalous metals. The property is located up gradient from Freeport McMoRan’s porphyry copper mines ensuring soil geochemistry results are local to Northern Sphere’s mineral claims.”

Quality Control

Northern Sphere’s quality control and assurance program includes the use of an independent certified lab, ALS Laboratories (“ALS”) of Tucson, Arizona. All ALS geochemical hub laboratories are accredited to ISO/IEC 17025:2005 for specific analytical procedures. The ALS quality program includes quality control steps through sample preparation and analysis, inter-laboratory test programs, and regular internal audits. It is an integral part of day-to-day activities, involves all levels of ALS staff and is monitored at top management levels.

  • Permit allows for up to 8,000 meters of drilling and 48 drill holes
  • First phase of drilling scheduled in early October, focusing on the Jaclyn Main Zone
  • Zone has been traced for 450 meters and locally to a vertical depth of 175 meters

VANCOUVER, BC / ACCESSWIRE / September 14, 2017 / GREAT ATLANTIC RESOURCES CORP. (TSX-V.GR) (the “Company” or “Great Atlantic”) is pleased to announce it has received a permit for diamond drilling from the Newfoundland and Labrador Dept. of Natural Resources for its Golden Promise Gold Property in central Newfoundland. The permit allows for up to 8,000 meters of drilling and 48 drill holes. This permit expires on July 26, 2018. Multiple gold bearing quartz veins occur within the permit area including the Jaclyn Main, Jaclyn North, Jaclyn South and Jaclyn West Zones. The Company is planning to commence the first phase of drilling in early October, focusing on the Jaclyn Main Zone and area east of and along strike of the Jaclyn North Zone, including areas of high grade gold bearing quartz boulders.

  • To view Map 2, please click the following link:
    https://www.accesswire.com/uploads/GA2.png

Phase I drilling will include the Jaclyn Main Zone, located in the northern region of the property. Most of the historic work was conducted at the Jaclyn Main Zone. A National Instrument 43-101 compliant inferred resource of 921,000 tonnes at an average grade of 3.02 g/t Au (89,500 ounces contained gold) was reported in 2008 for the Jaclyn Main Zone. Gold recovery from a reported 2,241 tonne bulk sample collected in 2010 at the Jaclyn Main Zone was reported to average 4.47 g/t Au. The average tails grade for the sample was reported to be 1.12 g/t Au. A “back-calculated head grade of 5.59 g/t Au” was reported for the bulk sample. The Jaclyn Main Zone has been reportedly traced for a strike length of approximately 800 meters (northeast to east striking) through trenching and diamond drilling to approximately 420 meters vertical depth.

To view Jaclyn Main Zone – 2010 Bulk Sample Area, please click the following link:
    https://www.accesswire.com/uploads/GA3resize.jpg

The second area of focus during Phase I drilling is the Jaclyn North Zone, reported approximately 250 metres north of the Jaclyn Main Zone. Drill holes are planned to test the extension of Jaclyn North Zone along its projected strike to the east. Recent trenching in this area revealed thick overburden (predominantly greater than 3 or 4 metres in recent trenches). Gold bearing angular quartz bounders were discovered in till within these trenches including multiple high grade boulders in one trench approximately 260 meters east of the eastern-most historic Jaclyn North drill hole. Grab samples of boulders from this trench returned 31.96, 78.05, 163.99 and 332.67 g/t gold (9.7 oz./ton gold) (News Release of August 31, 2017). The area of this particular trench is a high priority target for the Company and will be tested during the Phase I drilling.

The northeast striking Jaclyn North Zone has been reportedly traced by diamond drilling (13 holes) for approximately 450 meters and locally to a vertical depth of 175 meters. The zone is reported to contain 3 quartz veined sub-zones. Reported drill intersections include (core length):

    • GP03-32: 12.13 g/t Au / 0.35m & 12.30 g/t Au / 0.30m
    • GP07-76 (Upper Sub-zone): 11.28 g/t Au / 0.30m
    • GP06-51 (Middle Sub-zone): 5.24 g/t Au / 1.70
    • GP06-47 (Lower Sub-zone): 15.23 g/t Au / 0.30m
    • GP10-103: 6.19 g/t Au / 0.35m

Pot’s retail therapy

TORONTO — It’s a hot, sunny Thursday afternoon on the hard edge of Queen Street West, and the foot traffic at Eden, a pot dispensary, is brisk.

Retailers along this strip of trendy clothing stores, bars, restaurants, shoe shops, tattoo parlours, hairstylists, comic stores and coffee joints cater to the urban hip, and Eden is no different. lnside, iceberg-blue lights illuminate jewel-case cabinets with the product — glass vials of Hindu Kush, El Hefe, Organic Blue Dream — artfully displayed.

On the aquamarine-blue wall at the front are two white iPads, for customers who need quick access to the Internet to check product information.

The place is spotless, sharp. And the air is heavy with the unmistakeable sweet smell of cannabis.

Pot store
The fridge at Eden Medicinal Society, a cannabis retailer in Toronto. (Tyler Anderson / National Post)

Behind the counter, two clerks, a man and a woman both in their 20s, both dressed like their customers, are filling orders, taking cash.

The average transaction, those in the business say, is $50. A pre-rolled joint is $12, but Alicia, the manager, says they won’t start selling a lot of those until the evening, when the university crowd and the kids from the suburbs come downtown.

The afternoonwalk-ins are largely cannabis users who rely on the flowers, ointments, teas, and oils to ease some chronic ailment, or they are creative types — writers, graphics artists, filmmakers — who find extra insight and energy through cannabinoid stimulation. They all have prescriptions from a licensed physician.

The product mix and retail approach at Eden’s downtown store is different than what you will find at the company’s newest outlet a few blocks north near Bayview and Eglinton. There are more seniors and aging baby boomers in that neighbourhood so the store opens earlier and closes earlier.

The Eden outlets are among the 100 or so pot dispensaries in Toronto, but there is easily demand, those in the industry say, for 1,000 such businesses.

They are owned and operated by a mix of campaigners and capitalists.

The campaigners have been working for years to legalize marijuana use. They believe in the huge potential for the drug to manage pain, ease anxiety, and help many to a more productive, happy, creative and healthy existence.

Tania Cyalume and Brandy Zurborg opened their storefront dispensary, Queens of Cannabis, on Bloor Street West just north of Little Italy in February.

“I guess when you believe in a product, you really believe in it because you’ve seen the way that it affects people,” said Cyalume.

The products Cyalume and Zurborg sell and their approach to retailing match their personal philosophies and lifestyles. Both are vegans, and the edible cannabis products they stock are vegan and  pesticide-free.

Their crusade is about serving patients because they are patients themselves, and use cannabis products regularly to treat their own chronic pain and ailments.

“We’re patients and we believe in it. We also believe that patients have the first right to access before recreational. There is only so much supply, and there is a huge demand,” said Zurborg, who trained as a certified management accountant designation and was  an auditor with the Canada Revenue Agency.

Their goal is not necessarily to get rich. They speak of one day being able to use the proceeds of their retail operation to help fund outreach, at hospices for example, where they can spread the word about the life-changing value of cannabis products.
