9/11 – The Real Tragedy Remains. Please Help First Responders

Posted by AGORACOM at 9:56 AM on Friday, September 11th, 2009

Our Chief Commentator, Peter Grandich, posted the following story on his blog.  I’d ask that you take a minute to visit http://www.fealgoodfoundation.com/ to understand what tens of thousands of first responders are going through and – if you can spare a couple of bucks – help contribute to the cause.  At the very least, if this story moves you, please share it with your networks via e-mail, Twitter, blog or any other means you have.

Thanks and God Bless,
George

We can’t all be heroes because somebody has to sit on the curb and clap as they go by.

To many, September 11, 2001, was an American tragedy because of the life that was lost that day. I fully agree. But a far greater tragedy just began that day and eight years later has become America’s greatest tragedy IMHO.

40,000+ brave men and women went to Ground Zero when people like myself stayed far away as possible. Our government not only told them it was safe but encouraged their assistance. Now 70% of these folks have major illnesses, are dying or already have died. It won’t be too many more 911 anniversaries before more of these people will have died from illnesses from the recovery effort than died in the attack.

While the families of those killed were justifiably compensated for their loss, 911 First Responders haven’t received any real support that was so boldly promised in the days, weeks and months after the attack.

I’m truly ashamed of my government and felt powerless to help until I met my ultimate hero, John Feal. This one man, and some super human fellow 911 First Responders, have fought a 21st century David versus Goliath battle for these 40,000+ heroes.

I have so much I want to say to each and every one of them, starting with a most heart felt apology on behalf of my government for tragically failing them. I so much want to shake each and every hand and hug them all in the hopes of the smallest way that they know someone is forever grateful for their good deeds.

May God Bless each and everyone of them and all their love ones who have had to deal with this now 8 year tragedy.

“Jesus Said, ‘Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command.” John 15:13-14

It’s shocking to hear about the shear number of aftermath illnesses. What a shame to hear that the American Government has given little to no support to the people who put their lives in grave danger to save others.
