Blog Post #1,000. Life = Risk

Posted by AGORACOM at 7:46 PM on Wednesday, October 7th, 2009

I noticed earlier this afternoon that I was at 999 blog posts.  Andreas, our community director, was sitting beside me and said exactly what I was thinking “What are you going to post to commemorate #1,000?”.

I didn’t give it too much thought but knew it should be something beyond the normal course of business.  As I prepared to leave the office this evening, I went through e-mail messages that I mark to be read after-hours and came across a post from my friend, Chris Brown, over at Surge Capital.  The subject line was “Motivational Video” and his message was simply “A must watch.”

I watched.

My kids are going to watch.

So should you.

Pass it on to anyone who believes in a dream that is shared by very few others.

Post your real-life experience in the comments section.

I’ll start.  “Online investor relations? Moderated stock discussion forums? Never going to happen.  Online investors are nut jobs. No CEO is going to take this seriously.

I can’t think of anything more fitting for my 1,000th post.

If you’re feeling motivated and want to move on to fired up and introspective, watch the following 2 phenomenal, soul-grabbing commercials. You don’t have to be a football or designer bag fan to appreciate their take on life. Just watch. I dare you to tell me your hair doesn’t stand on end and that you don’t suddenly feel like you can take on any challenge:

Regards,
George

Yes and to all your comments I’ll add my poem…

The clock of life is wound but once
And no one has the power
To know just when the hands will stop
    At late or early hour

    So Live, Love, Laugh
Take a few risks if you will
    Place no faith in tomorrow
For the clock may then be still

I really like the videos; they really show that determination will get you anywhere. The limit is more than the sky!

  4. QT says:

The Journey video was interesting in that it gets us to question why we are here the few years we have. Instead of the journey being about us, in actual truth it is about the Creator and His will for each one and when we find that we find its all about Jesus Christ and a relationship journey with Him into eternity and sadly MOST people miss it for various and sundry reasons. When we get a REAL touch of heaven we are forever ruined for God.

Life=Risk and this video are rubbish. Life is only risk if you are stupid, like most people in various markets are.

Life is an adventure. This video has been produced by people who never had one, just fantasize about what could be.

So you have been told in school you are stupid….where is the “risk” in that. Risk 500Gs in the market to make 4Mil….now you are making sense or risk your life while exoeriencing a real adventure for a big pay-off….but to not risk your mind watching dumb videos, TV is full of them.

    George,

I like the first video Life=Risk. but the other two didn’t really do anything for me. i think the fact that they were ultimately created to hawk there wares made them less genuine then the 1st video.

    George and Peter,

Question: Why is this kind of stuff on a financial blog?? Answer:

Because I’ve been asking my spirit for direction and the answer I just saw was “You’re on the right path”. That’s why.

    Thank you.

These are deep thoughtful videos. What is a “journey” ? Kind of gets me wondering if the choices in life I have made, if they might of been different, what kind of life would I be having right now… I guess a person has 100% reign in that field. By the choices we make and the things we say and do will have 100% of an impact in our lives. That is the way i see it. Like the bible says ‘the tounge is a small tool but it is powerful, it is used both for blessing and cursing and also used to praise God’ it is like a rudder, even though a rudder is a very small part of a ship, it actualy controls a large and powerful ship.

I actually didn’t produce the piece – but point taken. I just added 2 more videos. Let me know what you think.

    Peace.
