Draganfly Q2 Revenue Jumps 22% to $2.12M as Cash Reserves Surge to $22.6M

Posted by Brittany McNabb at 5:26 PM on Friday, August 15th, 2025

UAV maker posts double-digit revenue growth as it lands defense orders, a Fortune 50 telecom deal, and a Pentagon showcase slot

Introduction

Draganfly Inc. (NASDAQ: DPRO; CSE: DPRO; FSE: 3U8) reported second-quarter revenue growth and a string of operational wins that deepen its footprint in defense, public safety, and emergency infrastructure. Product sales rose 37% year over year in Q2 2025, helping lift total revenue 22% as the company advanced deliveries to U.S. defense programs, secured a Fortune 50 telecommunications customer for disaster recovery, and demonstrated an integrated tactical system at an invite-only Pentagon event.

Background and Context

Founded more than two decades ago, Draganfly is best known for building modular unmanned aerial platforms used in time-sensitive missions. The company’s heritage includes one of the most widely cited early rescues by a public-service drone, when Canadian authorities used a Draganflyer to help locate an injured driver in 2013—an episode frequently credited as a first for life-saving drone use. That real-world orientation continues to shape the firm’s product roadmap and go-to-market focus.

Q2 by the Numbers

In the quarter ended June 30, 2025, Draganfly posted revenue of $2.12 million (+22.1% YoY) and product sales of $1.90 million (+37.1% YoY). Gross profit was $505,000, with a gross margin of 23.9% versus 26.6% a year ago, a decrease the company attributed to sales mix. Cash and equivalents stood at $22.57 million at quarter-end, up from $6.25 million on December 31, 2024. The company reported a comprehensive loss of $4.75 million, including non-cash items.

The stronger cash position reflects a series of financings, including a $25 million registered direct offering that closed in July 2025.

What’s Driving the Pipeline

Defense traction. In July, a major branch of the U.S. Department of Defense selected Draganfly’s Commander3 XL for advanced operational initiatives, and the company separately announced a strategic military order for the platform—adding validation in intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) and related missions. In June, Draganfly began delivering its Flex FPV systems under an order from a major U.S. prime contractor.

Pentagon demonstration. On August 5, Draganfly showcased an integrated tactical strike system—developed with MMS Products’ “Mjolnir” modular munition—at the Pentagon’s Low-Cost Uncrewed Combat Attack Systems event, highlighting modular payload integration and ISR-to-strike workflows.

Disaster recovery and telecom resilience. After extensive testing with Infinity Communications, a Fortune 50 telecom purchased multiple Draganfly Heavy Lift drones to move supplies and restore communications in storm-damaged or inaccessible areas—an example of how UAV logistics are being embedded in business continuity plans.

Humanitarian demining. In April, SafeLane Global named Draganfly its preferred global provider of landmine-mapping drones and aerial survey services in a multi-year agreement, with the first Ukraine aerial-survey contract underway—expanding the firm’s role in humanitarian operations.

Why It Matters

Together, these developments put Draganfly at the nexus of three durable demand drivers: defense modernization, critical-infrastructure resilience, and humanitarian/ public-safety missions. Defense orders and Pentagon-level demonstrations can translate into longer-term programs if performance milestones are met. Commercial adoption by a Fortune 50 telecom underscores use cases beyond defense, where drones can shorten recovery time and improve safety after disasters. Humanitarian contracts broaden the addressable market while reinforcing the brand’s mission-driven identity.

Expert and Company Views

Company leaders have framed recent wins as proof points for a modular, mission-ready approach built around North American, NDAA-compliant systems. In the Pentagon release, Draganfly emphasized that the LUCAS demonstration validated its integration and autonomy work in contested environments; the SafeLane agreement similarly positions the company as a specialist supplier in complex, high-risk settings.

Challenges and Considerations

Despite top-line and product-sales growth, Draganfly remains loss-making as it invests in personnel, R&D, and market expansion; margins also move with product mix, which can pressure profitability in any given quarter. Execution risk is inherent in defense and public-sector sales cycles, where revenue can be lumpy and contingent on trials, security reviews, and budget timing. The company’s bolstered cash balance provides runway to support production scaling and program deliveries, but sustained growth will depend on converting pilots and initial orders into recurring or multi-year awards.

Bottom Line

Q2 2025 offered a clear snapshot of Draganfly’s strategy in motion: expand in defense with validated platforms, extend into enterprise resilience with heavy-lift logistics, and apply the same technology stack to humanitarian missions. With fresh capital, a fuller order book, and marquee demonstrations, the company is positioned to compete for larger programs as organizations look to unmanned systems for faster response, better data, and safer operations.

The Future of Firefighting? Meet the Drone That’s Redefining Emergency Response

A Game-Changer in Firefighting Technology

As wildfires become increasingly frequent and severe, the demand for innovative solutions to combat these disasters has never been greater. Draganfly Inc. (NASDAQ: DPRO) (CSE: DPRO), a recognized leader in drone technology, is answering this call with its Heavy Lift Drone, a cutting-edge unmanned aerial system (UAS) designed to enhance emergency response capabilities. With the ability to transport critical equipment to hard-to-reach areas, the Heavy Lift Drone is redefining the way first responders tackle fires and natural disasters.

Unmatched Payload Capacity for Critical Missions

One of the standout features of Draganfly’s Heavy Lift Drone is its ability to carry approximately 372 feet of 1-inch single-jacket forestry hose, equivalent to 7.4 sections of 50-foot hose. This capability ensures that firefighters operating in remote or hazardous environments can receive necessary equipment quickly and efficiently, reducing response times and increasing operational effectiveness.

Beyond wildfire suppression, the drone’s modular design and high payload capacity make it a versatile asset for various emergency scenarios, including disaster relief, search and rescue, and industrial operations. Whether delivering medical supplies, deploying tactical gear, or assisting in flood response, the Heavy Lift Drone is built to handle the most demanding conditions.

Wildfires often occur in rugged, inaccessible areas where traditional firefighting methods are difficult to deploy. The Heavy Lift Drone eliminates these barriers by providing aerial transport of essential equipment to steep cliffs, dense forests, and fire-engulfed regions—areas that would otherwise be dangerous or impossible to reach. By reducing the need for firefighters to navigate hazardous terrain on foot, the drone improves safety while optimizing resource allocation.

Additionally, the drone’s advanced capabilities allow for faster, more precise deliveries compared to conventional methods. In situations where every second counts, the ability to deploy firefighting hoses, water, or other life-saving equipment directly to the frontlines gives emergency teams a significant advantage.

Pioneering Innovation in Aerial Emergency Response

Draganfly has long been at the forefront of drone innovation, with a track record of industry firsts, life-saving technology, and strategic partnerships. The company’s expertise in public safety, defense, and industrial applications has positioned it as a leader in UAV solutions tailored for real-world challenges.

With growing recognition and recent awards for Best Enterprise Drone, Best Search and Rescue Drone, and Best Delivery Drone, Draganfly continues to expand its influence across key industries. The Heavy Lift Drone’s integration into wildfire response efforts is just one example of the company’s commitment to advancing aerial technology for critical missions.

Looking Ahead: The Future of Emergency Drone Operations

As governments and organizations prioritize disaster preparedness and response, the role of UAVs in emergency management is expected to grow exponentially. With its Heavy Lift Drone, Draganfly is setting new standards for reliability, efficiency, and safety in aerial operations.

By combining cutting-edge engineering with practical applications, Draganfly is not just innovating the drone industry—it’s shaping the future of emergency response worldwide.

Draganfly Drones Revolutionize Search and Rescue Operations with Cutting-Edge Technology

Posted by Brittany McNabb at 3:40 PM on Monday, September 16th, 2024

Introduction:

As drones become more affordable and sophisticated, their application in search and rescue (SAR) operations is transforming how first responders locate and save lives in treacherous environments. From mountaineers stranded on cliffs to lost hikers in dense forests, drones are increasingly being relied upon to do the dangerous and labor-intensive work traditionally reserved for SAR teams. Draganfly Inc. (NASDAQ: DPRO), a leader in drone solutions, is at the forefront of this revolution, offering cutting-edge technology that enhances search efficiency and safety for SAR teams worldwide.

Draganfly’s innovative drones, including its newly launched APEX model, are equipped with advanced features such as AI-powered real-time data processing and high-performance camera systems. These capabilities make their drones invaluable in SAR missions, especially in dangerous or remote locations. With the advent of these technologies, Draganfly is positioning itself as a key player in the rapidly growing intersection of drone technology and public safety.

Drones Redefining Search and Rescue: The New Era of SAR Operations

The use of drones in search and rescue missions has grown exponentially in recent years. With improved computer vision systems and more affordable technology, drones are now capable of searching vast, hard-to-reach areas faster and more efficiently than traditional methods. This was exemplified in a 2019 rescue mission in the Himalayas where a drone was used to locate a stranded mountaineer clinging to an icy cliff face—after he had been missing for 36 hours. Such incidents underscore the critical role drones can play in SAR operations.

For Draganfly, the integration of drones into SAR missions represents not only a technological advancement but also a vital solution to the “three D’s” that SAR teams often face—dangerous, dirty, and drudgerous tasks. The company’s drones are designed to navigate these challenges, enhancing the ability of rescuers to perform their jobs while minimizing risk.

Draganfly’s APEX Drone: A Game Changer in SAR Technology

Draganfly’s latest offering, the APEX Drone, is designed with the demanding needs of SAR teams in mind. The APEX features advanced capabilities that make it an ideal tool for search and rescue missions, including:

  • Extended Flight Time and Payload Capacity: With a flight time of up to 45 minutes and a payload capacity of 5 pounds, the APEX can cover large areas and carry essential equipment for SAR missions.
  • AI-Driven Real-Time Data Processing: Equipped with Nvidia onboard computing, the APEX allows for real-time processing of video and other data, enabling SAR teams to make quick, informed decisions during missions.
  • High-Performance Camera Systems: The APEX is equipped with cutting-edge cameras that offer high-resolution imaging and the ability to scan large areas quickly. This is particularly useful in spotting individuals in difficult-to-reach locations or dense environments.
  • Modular Design for Versatility: The APEX’s quick-release payload system allows operators to switch between different sensors and cameras, adapting the drone to the specific needs of a mission.

These features make the APEX a powerful tool in the hands of SAR teams, allowing them to locate missing persons faster while keeping their own teams out of harm’s way. Whether scanning steep cliffs or dense forests, Draganfly’s drones offer unparalleled versatility and reliability.

Real-World Applications: Enhancing Safety and Efficiency

Across the U.S. and beyond, SAR teams are already seeing the benefits of drone technology. In Colorado’s Chaffee County, drones are used in approximately 20% of missions. These missions often involve navigating swift rivers or steep mountainsides—scenarios where drones can operate more safely and efficiently than human searchers. The drones allow SAR teams to scan large areas from the air, often covering terrain that would take hours or days to search on foot.

Draganfly’s APEX Drone is particularly well-suited for these types of missions. Its advanced AI capabilities and high-resolution cameras can identify individuals in complex environments, such as dense forests or rocky cliffs, where traditional methods might fail. Furthermore, the drone’s modular design allows it to adapt to the specific needs of each mission, whether that involves searching for heat signatures, scanning with optical cameras, or using communication links to boost radio signals in remote areas.

Advanced AI and Computer Vision: The Future of SAR

One of the most significant advancements in drone technology is the integration of AI-powered computer vision systems. These systems, which are featured in Draganfly’s APEX Drone, enable drones to analyze live video feeds and detect human shapes or heat signatures far more quickly than a human operator could. This not only speeds up the search process but also increases the likelihood of a successful rescue.

Draganfly’s AI capabilities allow drones to process vast amounts of data in real-time, identifying anomalies in the environment—such as a person’s clothing or body heat—that may not be immediately visible to the human eye. This technology is especially useful in complex environments, such as dense forests or rugged mountains, where visual identification is challenging.

In Austria, researchers are developing techniques to use AI for detecting people hidden beneath tree canopies, while other teams are working on anomaly detection systems that can identify abnormal colors, temperatures, or movement patterns. Draganfly’s commitment to integrating similar advanced technologies into its drones ensures that SAR teams have the tools they need to respond to emergencies more effectively.

Conclusion: Draganfly Leads the Charge in Drone-Enabled Search and Rescue

As drones become an increasingly integral part of search and rescue operations, companies like Draganfly are leading the way in developing the next generation of UAVs for public safety. The APEX Drone, with its advanced AI, real-time data processing, and versatile design, offers a glimpse into the future of SAR missions—one where drones take on the dangerous, dirty, and drudgerous tasks, allowing human rescuers to focus on saving lives.

With its continued focus on innovation and practical applications, Draganfly is not only transforming the SAR landscape but also demonstrating the immense potential of drone technology to make the world a safer place. As SAR teams around the globe adopt these advanced tools, the future of search and rescue looks brighter—and faster—than ever before.

Drones in Action: How Advanced UAV Technology Rescued a Dog from British Columbia’s Rugged Terrain

Posted by Brittany McNabb at 12:18 PM on Tuesday, August 27th, 2024

Drones: A New Frontier in Search and Rescue

On August 21, Draganfly, a leader in drone technology, demonstrated the life-saving potential of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) during a challenging rescue operation in British Columbia. The company played a pivotal role in assisting Squamish Search and Rescue (SSAR) to locate and rescue Maverick, a dog that had fallen into the swift waters of the Cheakamus Canyon, a treacherous area known for its rugged terrain and unpredictable conditions.

Maverick’s situation was dire; he was stranded in a small cave deep within the canyon, surrounded by fast-moving water and steep cliffs. Traditional rescue methods were not only dangerous but also time-consuming. In this critical moment, Draganfly’s advanced UAV technology provided a solution that was both efficient and safe.

Leveraging Technology for Real-Time Solutions

Draganfly’s UAV, equipped with a thermal sensor, was deployed to scan the area where Maverick was last seen. The drone’s ability to capture real-time data and deliver high-resolution thermal imagery proved crucial. Within a short time, the UAV located Maverick, safe but trapped in a small cave, where he was otherwise invisible to rescuers on the ground.

The real-time intelligence provided by the drone allowed SSAR to swiftly develop a plan to reach Maverick. With the drone’s guidance, a swift water technician was safely lowered into the canyon and was able to retrieve the stranded dog. The successful outcome of this rescue highlights the growing importance of drone technology in emergency response scenarios.

Drones: A Versatile Tool in Critical Missions

This rescue operation is not an isolated case; it reflects a broader trend where drones are increasingly used in critical missions across various sectors. From search and rescue operations to disaster relief, agricultural monitoring, wildlife conservation, and even medical supply deliveries, drones are proving to be indispensable tools.

In search and rescue missions, drones can cover large areas quickly, provide live footage of difficult-to-reach locations, and offer critical data that can mean the difference between life and death. They are especially valuable in situations where time is of the essence, and human intervention could be dangerous or impossible. The ability of drones to operate in extreme conditions, coupled with their advanced sensors and real-time data capabilities, makes them a game-changer in emergency response.

The Future of Drones in Emergency Response

As technology continues to evolve, the role of drones in critical missions is expected to expand even further. Companies like Draganfly are at the forefront of this revolution, constantly innovating and improving UAV systems to meet the demands of modern emergency response. The use of drones in the rescue of Maverick is a testament to the potential these machines hold in saving lives, both human and animal.

In the future, we can expect to see drones equipped with even more sophisticated sensors, AI-driven analytics, and enhanced communication systems, further enhancing their utility in critical missions. The success of the Cheakamus Canyon rescue demonstrates that drones are not just tools of convenience; they are essential assets in the ever-evolving landscape of emergency response.

Draganfly’s involvement in this rescue mission highlights the importance of embracing advanced technology to overcome the challenges of today’s complex environments. As drones continue to prove their worth in critical situations, their adoption in emergency response and other sectors is set to grow, paving the way for safer and more efficient operations.
