Webcast: Why Facebook Investor Relations Will Fail You

Posted by AGORACOM at 7:07 AM on Thursday, March 17th, 2011

I love Facebook.  I am on Facebook.  It has done wonders for helping me maintain relationships with the hundreds of people in my life that I don’t have time to see and speak to on a regular basis.  AGORACOM is on Facebook.  We have 488 fans and it is a great way for our members or other investors on Facebook to get our info into their feed.

Facebook is a phenomenon unlike any other I have seen – and I look forward to being a part of it for years to come.

But relying on Facebook as your primary online investor relations destination is a recipe for disaster.  Contrary to what Social Media IR Experts (aka “Pretenders”) will tell you, Facebook IR will fail you.

To find out the many reasons why – and how I put my money where my mouth is – watch the presentation I gave at IR Conference 2011 in Vancouver on January 21.  It was the anchor presentation and feedback from the audience of small-cap public companies was tremendous.  I opened their eyes and know it will do the same for you.

The good news is that Facebook done correctly can be a big boost to your online investor relations campaign.  Look for that presentation to come out in about a month, or feel free to contact me at [email protected] to discuss sooner.

Regards,
George

THIS PRESENTATION WILL GO LIVE ON THURSDAY, DECEMBER 3RD @ 10:30 AM EST.

Please find enclosed the opening keynote presentation for The AGORACOM Online Gold & Commodities Conference.  Peter Grandich, Chief Commentator of AGORACOM, goes in-depth in an interview with me to discuss The End Game – How the $USD, Interest Rates and Gold Will Play Out.  It is the question on everybody’s mind.  We all now know how we got here – but the more important question is “where are we going?”

PROFILE

Peter Grandich, Chief Commentator of AGORACOM.com, is an internationally-acclaimed financial expert who has made a 25-plus-year career out of his knack for uncannily-accurate market predictions. Labeled the “Wall Street Whiz Kid” by Good Morning America, Grandich gained national notoriety by being among the very few who not only forecasted the 1987 stock market crash just weeks before it happened, but on the very next day he predicted that within two years the market would reach a new all-time high – which it did.

Proving his market calls are no fluke, The Wall Street Journal recently included Peter in an article about the few analysts that picked the March 2009 lows. What his readers know is that Peter also called the October 2007 stock market high on his blog and went short on the entire market.

His ability to analyze and forecast financial happenings has resulted in hundreds of media interviews including GMA, Neil Cavuto’s Your World on Fox News, The Kudlow Report on CNBC, and every major financial media outlet including Wall Street Journal, Barron’s, Financial Post, Globe and Mail, US News & World Report, New York Times, MarketWatch, Business News Network and dozens more. He has spoken at investment conferences around the globe and is regarded as one of the world’s foremost market strategists. He has edited and published four widely-read investment newsletters and contributed to numerous national publications.

Peter is also the founder of Trinity Financial Sports & Entertainment Management a firm with a Christian perspective which he started in 2001 with Lee Rouson, former NY Giant and two-time Super Bowl champion. The firm offers services to celebrities, athletes and average folks.

He was also the founder and managing member of Grandich Publications, which was acquired by AGORACOM in 2009. In his first full year with AGORACOM, over 190,000 investors visited Peter’s blog 1.1 million times. Grandich also provides a variety of services to publicly-held corporations on a compensation basis.

Peter Grandich is a member of the National Association of Christian Financial Consultants, and a long-standing member of The New York Society of Security Analysts and The Society of Quantitative Analysts.

Reverse Merger 2009 Presentation – Now Live!

Posted by AGORACOM at 10:44 AM on Friday, June 26th, 2009

rmc09_logo_500x49

AGORACOM was once again a proud sponsor of the Reverse Merger Conference held this year at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, June 11 & 12. I presented the Web / Online Investor Relations Speaker Workshop called, ““Using Web 2.0 To Conduct Investor Relations and Gather Intelligence through Blogs, Twitter, iGoogle and RSS Feeds…But What Are They?”

The workshop was the initial step in teaching bankers, fund managers and public companies about the advantages of  incorporating social media into their intelligence gathering to cut through clutter, get the information they need and connect with the smartest people on the planet.

Despite the fact it was the last presentation before lunch, the room was pretty full and – more importantly – alive with audience participation.  In order to avoid the “he’s the internet guy and I could never do what he does” syndrome,  I brought industry stalwart and early Web 2.0 adopter David Feldman of the Reverse Merger & SPAC Blog.  David discussed his overwhelmingly positive blogging experience, which opened up the floor to some great questions from the audience.

I am happy to announce the presentation (audio and power point slides) has now been webcast for everyone to listen to and benefit from.  If you couldn’t make it to Las Vegas, or were at the Conference but need a refresher, here it is.  For your convenience, I have broken it down into 2 parts:

  • My presentation
  • The Q&A with David Feldman

You can watch the presentations below and then ask any questions by posting them to the comments section.  I hope you find the presentation and Q&A as valuable as the audience members at the Reverse Mergers Conference.

As promised, I will follow this up with 5-minute presentations on how to use Twitter, iGoogle and Blogging.  Look for them to begin in a few days.

PART 2 – THE Q&A WITH DAVID FELDMAN

Summary Of Reverse Merger Conference

AGORACOM was once again a proud sponsor of the Reverse Merger Conference held this year at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, June 11 & 12.  I didn’t have time to blog from the conference but I did manage to post some useful information via Twitter that you can see here.

Perhaps the most important tweet was my very first one where I stated as follows:

reverse-merger-09-tweet

It signaled to me that Web 2.0 had finally begun its penetration into the world of Reverse Mergers and small-cap investment banking.  It was also quite timely given the fact I was presenting the Web / Online Investor Relations Speaker Workshop called, ““SEC Greenlights Blogs, Twitter and RSS Feeds For Investor Relations…But What Are They?”

It was so well received that I am going to publish a webcast of the keynote and re-broadcast it here as soon as the good people from DealFlow Media send over the audio files.  In addition, I am also going to produce a series of short videos on iGoogle, Twitter, Blogs and RSS Feeds.

THE CONFERENCE

Overall it was an excellent conference despite the fact attendance was down due to market conditions.  Personally I didn’t mind it because it served to eliminate the weak players in the space and gave everyone in attendance more time to network with the best of the best.  Naturally, I’d prefer a bigger, more robust audience as a result of a healthy marketplace but the occasional quality over quantity dynamic does not hurt.

Look for those videos to begin in the next 10 days or so.  In the meantime, for those of you that have not seen my previous keynotes at DealFlow Media events over the past 3 years, you can watch my previous presentations using the following links:

Speaking at Mesh ’09 – Canada’s Leading Web Conference

Posted by AGORACOM at 2:58 PM on Monday, April 6th, 2009

I’m proud to once again announce that I’ve been invited to speak at Mesh ’09, Canada’s leading Web Conference, being held at the MaRS Centre in Toronto on April 7th & 8th.

I will participate in the panel discussion called “Managing Community Online”, which will also include other very successful web entrepreneurs who have made a career out of creating, managing, and monetizing online communities.

In my experience, online financial communities are more passionate and vibrant than any other kind of community because they deal with people’s financial well-being. As such, our experiences in building a successful community should be extremely beneficial to those in attendance. I’m grateful to our entire community for helping AGORACOM get noticed and to the Mesh team for inviting me to participate.

I attended the inaugural Mesh Conference as a Web 2.0 rookie but was anxious to learn about the space, sort out the useful tools from the trendy ones and apply them to help create a sustainable business model. Given the incredible knowledge I gained at Mesh, it’s only fitting that I give back to the conference and help others build great communities of the future.

On March 3rd, 2009, AGORACOM reported 2008 traffic results that included:

• 1.31 million unique visitors
• 7.9 million visits
• 96 million page views

Mesh is the result of event organizers believing that Toronto deserved to have a world-class conference where people with an enthusiasm for the Web could talk about how it is affecting the media, marketing, business and society as a whole.  My hat goes off to the following gentlemen for making Mesh a reality:

The panel discussion on “Managing Community Online” is on April 8th and is scheduled to begin at 4:10 pm. To view or download the Mesh schedule click here.

Webcast Of AGORACOM Keynote Investor Relations Speech From PIPEs Conference 2008

Posted by AGORACOM at 5:14 PM on Sunday, December 7th, 2008

AGORACOM was proud to be the Investor Relations Sponsor at The PIPEs Conference hosted by DealFlowMedia in New York last month, which has become the largest and most important event on Wall Street for the small-cap and micro-cap space.

KEYNOTE PRESENTATION – TURN THIS TURMOIL TO YOUR ADVANTAGE

As the IR Sponsor, I gave the keynote IR presentation titled “A Recipe For Success During Market Turmoil”. which is based on our blog post back on October 7th. The post was very well received by clients and non-clients and even cited by IR Web Report as an example of how to turn this period of turmoil into a competitive advantage.

More than just lip service, we’ve followed these principals for our own business and had a record month in October.

For those of you that couldn’t attend, please find enclosed a webcast of the presentation.

AGORACOM Sponsors PIPEs 2007; Presentation – How To Turn The Web Into Your IR Machine

Posted by AGORACOM at 8:33 AM on Friday, February 8th, 2008

AGORACOM was once again the proud Investor Relations Sponsor of The PIPEs Conference in New York. This conference has become the largest and most important event on Wall Street for those of us in the small and micro-cap space. The team at DealFlow Media continue to put together an agenda that creates a great mix of education and networking.

As the IR Sponsor, AGORACOM provided the entire audience with a keynote presentation titled “How To Use The Web To Find New Investors and Turn Them Into An IR Machine”. It was a concise but strong presentation that covered how to use Google to find new investors and Community to keep them both together and spreading the word for you. Pretty powerful stuff as you will see.

Reaction was so positive that many of those in attendance asked for a copy of the presentation. It also made sense to provide it for those of you that could not attend this year (but should be attending next year).

Ask and you shall receive. Please view the presentation here. It also includes Q&A from the audience, so any questions you have were probably asked by a delegate.

Enjoy and contact me to discuss further.

George

AGORACOM Sponsors PIPEs Conference 2006; Presents – How To Conduct Great IR In A Web 2.0 World

Posted by AGORACOM at 9:25 PM on Monday, January 22nd, 2007

Good evening to you all. I recently gave a speech at the PIPEs Conference in New York (October 2006) titled “How To Conduct Investor Relations In a Web 2.0 World”. The conference targets PIPEs issuers, fund managers and analysts from all over North America, as opposed to public companies and individual investors. As such, I’ve made the speech available via webcast for pubco’s to view here.

Have a great night.

George
