  • Preliminary results from the first phase of detailed gold exploration in the Florence Lake greenstone belt (FLGB)
  • 7,783 soil samples were taken on 12 grids at a 100m line spacing and 25m sample spacing in the southern portion of the FLGB
  • Results of arsenic XRF analyses are used to focus exploration for potential gold-rich zones.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Sept. 10, 2018 — Labrador Gold Corp. (TSX-V: LAB) (“Labrador Gold” or the “Company”) is pleased to announce preliminary results from the first phase of detailed gold exploration in the Florence Lake greenstone belt (FLGB). The company controls a 50 kilometre strike length of stratigraphy prospective for gold in the belt. The exploration program at Florence Lake followed up on successful results of 2017 and included detailed soil sampling, geological mapping, rock sampling and prospecting along the length of the belt.

A total of 7,783 soil samples were taken on 12 grids at a 100m line spacing and 25m sample spacing in the southern portion of the FLGB. All soils were dried for three days and analyzed by field portable XRF for multiple elements. Results show anomalous arsenic values in eight of the twelve grids with significant arsenic anomalies extending over 3.3km long by 800m wide and 1.5km long by 300m wide on the Misery grid and over 4.1km long by 600m wide on the Jasmine grid (see figures at www.labradorgold.com/Hopedale).

Given the good correlation of gold and arsenic anomalies shown by results of soil sampling during 2017, and the use of arsenic as a pathfinder for gold in greenstone belts, the results of arsenic XRF analyses are used to focus exploration for potential gold-rich zones.

The company is currently using an innovative technique, suggested by Technical Advisor Shawn Ryan, to follow up the soil anomalies. Geologists use a hand-held impact drill to drill 4 to 5 inch holes in outcrop in the anomalous area, collect the rock powder created and analyze it with the XRF while in the field. Use of a more homogeneous rock powder sample for XRF analysis than a simple rock chip allows for rapid in field assessment of the outcrops and further targets zones with potential for gold mineralization. Outcrops tested in this manner have shown arsenic anomalies on both the Jasmine and Misery grids (see figures at www.labradorgold.com/Hopedale).

Arsenic anomalies in soil and drill powder on the Misery grid coincide with a strong quartz carbonate alteration zone extending for more than 2km along strike. Anomalies on the Jasmine grid cover mafic volcanic rocks which are known to contain arsenopyrite locally in the wallrock of quartz veins (see news release dated August 14, 2018). In addition, recent prospecting in the vicinity of the soil and hand drill anomalies at Jasmine has uncovered a new arsenopyrite showing that has been followed along strike for 120 metres and remains open to the south.

“The use of XRF analyses of both soil and rock powder samples in the field is allowing rapid and efficient targeting of mineralized zones with the best potential, said Roger Moss, Labrador Gold Chief Executive Officer. “Discovery of arsenopyrite and pyrite mineralization during follow up prospecting demonstrates the success of the technique.”

Further follow up is ongoing with prospecting, channel sampling and structural mapping of the known and recently discovered showings.

XRF Analysis

Both soil and rock powder samples were analyzed by an Reflex Delta Model DP-2000-CC using Innov-X Delta advanced PC software. Prior to the start of analyses each day a routine calibration check was performed on the instrument using a Reflex Sandard “cal check” coin. Soil samples are analyzed at base camp and rock powder samples are analyzed at the sample site.

About Labrador Gold:

Labrador Gold is a Canadian based mineral exploration company focused on the acquisition and exploration of prospective gold projects in the Americas. In 2017 Labrador Gold signed a Letter of Intent under which the Company has the option to acquire 100% of the 896 square kilometre (km2) Ashuanipi property in northwest Labrador and the Nain (503 km2) and Hopedale (458 km2) properties in eastern Labrador.

The Hopedale property covers much of the Hunt River and Florence Lake greenstone belts that stretch over 80 km. The belts are typical of greenstone belts around the world but have been underexplored by comparison. Initial work by Labrador Gold during 2017 show gold anomalies in soils and lake sediments over a 3 kilometre section of the northern portion of the Florence Lake greenstone belt in the vicinity of the known Thurber Dog gold showing where grab samples assayed up to 7.8g/t gold. In addition, anomalous gold in soil and lake sediment samples occur over approximately 40 kilometres along the southern section of the greenstone belt (see news release dated January 25th 2018 for more details).

The Ashuanipi gold project is located just 35 km from the historical iron ore mining community of Schefferville, which is linked by rail to the port of Sept Iles, Quebec in the south. The claim blocks cover large lake sediment gold anomalies that, with the exception of local prospecting, have not seen a systematic modern day exploration program. Results of the 2017 reconnaissance exploration program following up the lake sediment anomalies show gold anomalies in soils and lake sediments over a 15 kilometre long by 2 to 6 kilometre wide north-south trend and over a 14 kilometre long by 2 to 4 kilometre wide east-west trend. The anomalies appear to be broadly associated with magnetic highs and do not show any correlation with specific rock types on a regional scale (see news release dated January 18th 2018). This suggests a possible structural control on the localization of the gold anomalies. Historical work 30 km north on the Quebec side led to gold intersections of up to 2.23 grams per tonne (g/t) Au over 19.55 metres (not true width) (Source: IOS Services Geoscientifiques, 2012, Exploration and geological reconnaissance work in the Goodwood River Area, Sheffor Project, Summer Field Season 2011). Gold in both areas appears to be associated with similar rock types.

The Company has 51,442,552 common shares issued and outstanding and trades on the TSX Venture Exchange under the symbol LAB.

  • Started phase 2 drilling at the Tabasquena Silver Mine
  • First hole of phase 2 drilling intends to intersect the Tabasquena epithermal vein at 1800m above sea level.
  • Purchased mining equipment owned by prior operators for 300K at 0.50c per in all share transaction

Kamloops, British Columbia–(Newsfile Corp. – September 10, 2018) – Advance Gold Corp. (TSXV: AAX) (“Advance Gold” or “the Company”) is pleased to announce that it has started phase 2 drilling at the Tabasquena Silver Mine, near Ojocaliente, Mexico. In phase 1 drilling, only one hole went below the oxide zone of the 4 epithermal veins drilled, that hole was the high-grade gold discovery hole previously reported.

The first hole of phase 2 drilling, will test below the gold discovery hole with a goal to intersect the Tabasquena epithermal vein at 1800 metres above sea level. Which is around 100 metres below the discovery hole intersection. Epithermal veins that make up mines in the area, show that the precious metals horizon starts approximately were phase 1 drilling hit the gold discovery hole.

Once drilling of the first hole is completed, a news release will provided using the same details as in the first phase of drilling for each hole. Including drill hole cross sections, plan maps and core pictures. We will also present details of our second hole prior to drilling, and keep following this process throughout the phase 2 drilling program.

The Tabasquena project benefits from year round drilling weather and paved road access for relatively low-cost exploration.

Allan Barry Laboucan, President and CEO of Advance Gold Corp. commented: “During phase 1 we hit significant milestones, three of the most important are making a high-grade gold discovery, discovering a cluster of epithermal veins, and that at least two of these veins are significantly wider at depth that in the near surface historical mining done by Penoles in the oxide zone.

“We will begin phase 2 drilling with a drill hole deeper below the gold discovery hole. Once that is completed, we want to test some of the potential feeder type targets, plus we are eager to test all of the veins below the oxide zone which goes down to an estimated 175 metres below surface.

“Targeting the veins deeper is crucial as we aren’t reinventing the wheel here. Epithermal veins in the region have been studied for the 500 plus years of mining in the state of Zacatecas, Mexico. We look forward to testing down to a favourable depth for the precious metals horizon, on all the veins we have found and any new ones.

“Our goal with the first hole of phase 2 drilling is to get under the gold discovery hole and hit the Tabasquena vein at approximately 1800 metres above sea level. At this level we expect to hit the vein well into the precious metals horizon.”

Julio Pinto Linares, PGeo, is the qualified person responsible for this release and has supervised the preparation, and approved the preparation of the scientific and technical disclosure contained within the release.

Other News

Previous owners of the Tabasquena project had a goal to mine in the oxides, in addition to the Tabasquena 100 metre shaft, they had also purchased a significant amount of mining equipment. One of the largest is the nearly new headframe at the Tabasquena shaft.

Advance Gold will purchase all of the mining related equipment for $300k CAD, in stock at a deemed price of 50 cents per share.

The Tabasquena project is a fully permitted mine, and this equipment will help keep the option of further development toward bringing it back into production open.

About Advance Gold Corp. (TSXV: AAX)

Advance Gold is a TSX-V listed junior exploration company focused on acquiring and exploring mineral properties containing precious metals. The Company acquired a 100% interest in the Tabasquena Silver Mine in Zacatecas, Mexico in 2017, and the Venaditas project, also in Zacatecas state, in April, 2018.

#EV sector growth supports robust #nickel outlook $TN.ca $ROX.ca $FF.ca $EDG.ca $AGL.ca $ANZ.ca

  • Growth in nickel demand from the stainless steel and electrical vehicle (EV) sectors were the main topics of discussion at the Anglo American nickel seminar in Shanghai on Thursday September 6.
  • Increasing sales of EVs since 2012, in response to global subsidies for the production of EVs with a longer driving range, has resulted in accelerated nickel-containing battery output.

By Violet Li

Increasing sales of EVs since 2012, in response to global subsidies for the production of EVs with a longer driving range, has resulted in accelerated nickel-containing battery output.

“While nickel prices have been low in the past several years, it has been a fantastic time for end users and the growing use of nickel,” nickel analyst Barry Jackson of Anglo American said.

The three-month nickel price on the London Metals Exchange stood at $12,360-12,400 per tonne on Friday, vastly down from the all-time peak at $48,695-48,700 per tonne on April 2007, but up year on year from $11,640-11,650 per tonne.

There has been substantial growth in new nickel applications, such as EV, and existing nickel application in stainless steel, with the share of nickel contained in stainless steel and usage of nickel in batteries rising since 2007.

“The two very positive trends for nickel consumption in batteries will be the growing share of Ni-containing lithium-ion batteries and growing share of nickel in the batteries,” Jackson added.

Batteries for stationary storage is a growing area for nickel consumption. Meanwhile, home energy storage holds another potential end use for nickel.

Other speakers at the seminar also pointed to urbanization and modernization in infrastructure as positive growth markets for nickel use.

“With the urbanization in China and other countries, water distribution infrastructure will embrace a booming era, and that also means more nickel usage,” Philip Song, chief representative manager in China of the Nickel Institute, said at the conference.

Initial work by Labrador Gold during 2017 show gold anomalies in soils and lake sediments over a 3-kilometre section of the northern portion of the Florence Lake greenstone belt in the vicinity of the known Thurber Dog gold showing where grab samples assayed up to 7.8g/t gold. In addition, anomalous gold in soil and lake sediment samples occur over approximately 40 kilometres along the southern section of the greenstone belt (see news release dated January 25th, 2018 for more details).

The Ashuanipi gold project is located just 35 km from the historical iron ore mining community of Schefferville, which is linked by rail to the port of Sept Iles, Quebec in the south. The claim blocks cover large lake sediment gold anomalies that, with the exception of local prospecting, have not seen a systematic modern-day exploration program. Results of the 2017 reconnaissance exploration program following up the lake sediment anomalies show gold anomalies in soils and lake sediments over a 15-kilometre-long by 2 to 6-kilometre-wide north-south trend and over a 14-kilometre-long by 2 to 4-kilometre-wide east-west trend. The anomalies appear to be broadly associated with magnetic highs and do not show any correlation with specific rock types on a regional scale (see news release dated January 18th, 2018).
