Thunder Bay, Ontario–(Newsfile Corp. – January 15, 2019) – Zenyatta Ventures Ltd. (TSXV: ZEN) (“ZEN” or the “Company”) is pleased to announce that it has obtained TSX Venture Exchange approval and has changed its name from “Zenyatta Ventures Ltd.” to “ZEN Graphene Solutions Ltd.” effective January 16, 2019. The name change reflects the Company’s decision to focus its development plans for the Albany Graphite Project on the graphene nano-material product opportunity.

Graphene is emerging as the most promising new material in modern times for enhancing the mechanical, electrical and thermal properties of materials used in a broad range of industrial applications. New innovations are being announced by researchers around the world on a regular basis with market demand for graphene growing rapidly. In 2017, there were a total of 13,371 patent filings about graphene worldwide, an upsurge of 30.7% over the previous year. The global graphene market size stood at roughly US$85 million in 2017, before growing to nearly US$200million in 2018. It is now forecast to reach US$1 billion in size by 2023 as new applications are developed and implemented according to a report published by Research and Markets in November, 2018.

The unique genesis and microcrystalline structure of the high-purity Albany Graphite mineralization gives ZEN a significant competitive advantage in producing mono-layer to few-layer graphene that is in the highest demand. Furthermore, in a recent study by Tokyo Tech, researchers concluded that, due to the size and characteristics of its flakes, the exfoliation productivity of Albany Graphite performed up to 1500% better than the researchers’ reference flake graphite materials (see October 2018 news release). The Company is presently assessing the various graphene conversion methods developed within its network of collaborative research partners with the goal of defining various scalable, low-cost, low-energy and environmentally friendly production methods.

In the near future, ZEN plans to source the appropriate equipment required for graphene production and begin working with its partners on new technology development. The name change is the next logical step for ZEN to clearly signal to its future customers and investors its commitment to becoming a global leader in graphene technology. Interestingly, ZEN was included in the National Graphene Association’s “Top 10 Graphene Companies of 2018” based on the number of posts written about it on Graphene-info.

In conjunction with the name change, the Company’s new CUSIP number will be 98935P108 and the ISIN number will be CA98935P1080. The Company’s trading symbol will remain as “ZEN”.

Non-Brokered Flow-Through Offering

The Company also announces that 353,250 finders warrants were distributed by the Company in connection with the Company’s previously announced private placement of flow-through common shares that closed on December 21, 2019. These warrants will be subject to a hold period until April 22, 2019 in accordance with applicable securities laws.

https://s3.amazonaws.com/s3.agoracom.com/public/companies/logos/564424/hub/ZENYATTA_HUB.jpg

I’m very happy to have conducted my first interview with Zenyatta (Soon To Be Zen Graphene Solutions) Chairman and Co-CEO, Dr. Francis Dube. My thrill is two-fold:

1] Francis started out as an AGORACOM member and rose to the highest possible ranking on the site by providing great, intelligent conversation, analysis and information to his fellow members and shareholders. Now, he has transitioned from AGORACOM to the C-Suite of an actual public company and we couldn’t be more proud of both him and the platform for helping make this happen.

2] Francis has teamed up with Co-CEO, Don Bubar, who was one of our first clients many years ago before he too graduated Avalon to the NYSE, where the stock hit a high of ~ $10.00. Don is one of the top 5 people I have met in this industry over the past 20 years and a very well respected member of the mining industry. Their collaboration and complementary skill sets will be of great value to Zenyatta for many years to come.

On that note, this is why our first interview with Francis is a great one. The company is moving forward with great tangible steps, including the company’s most recent press releases that were well timed to coincide with the company’s presentation and exhibit at the Global Graphene Expo in Austin, Texas this week.

Taking the time to speak to his shareholders, via video from the conference, is proof positive that Francis is confident enough in the company’s future to be fully accessible and transparent.

Grab a coffee, sit back and watch this great interview. When you’re done, please feel free to post your comments and questions below for Francis to reply and comment.

$ZEN Tokyo Tech Research Confirms Ease of Conversion of Zenyatta’s Albany Graphite to Graphene $GRAT

  • Researchers in Japan have published findings in the Journal of Materials Science
  •  “the smaller the feed graphite particle, the easier to exfoliate”
  • The exfoliation productivity of graphite derived from Zenyatta’s unique Albany deposit in Northern Ontario performed up to 1500% better than the researchers’ reference

Thunder Bay, Ontario–(Newsfile Corp. – October 16, 2018) – Zenyatta Ventures Ltd. (TSXV: ZEN) (“Zenyatta” or “Company”) today reported that researchers in Japan have published findings in the Journal of Materials Science linking particle size to the ease of producing graphene from graphite through exfoliation — the smaller the feed graphite particle, the easier to exfoliate. The researchers further concluded that, due to the size of its flakes, the exfoliation productivity of graphite derived from Zenyatta’s unique Albany deposit in Northern Ontario performed up to 1500% better than the researchers’ reference flake graphite materials.

In a 2017 Zenyatta news release, Dr. Yoshihiko Arao, Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Tokyo Tech, stated “Zenyatta’s high-purity graphite material was tested by our scientific team on mechanical conversion to graphene and discovered it converted much easier and with higher yields of graphene than our reference material. We have tested many types of natural graphite but found Zenyatta’s Albany Graphite material to have better exfoliation performance and produce better graphene particles than the reference material. We believe that this is an extraordinary, unique material and we would like to carry out further collaborative work with Zenyatta on graphene applications.”

The following significant test results are reported in the paper by Dr. Arao and Dr. Masatoshi Kubouchi at Tokyo Tech:

  1. The main conclusion of the paper was that the smaller the feed graphite particle, the easier it is to exfoliate thus indicating that the graphite particle size is quite an important variable for successful exfoliation.
    • Exfoliation productivity of smaller Albany Graphite flakes performs up to 1500% better than the larger reference flake graphite materials.
    • Albany Graphite particles reach a 2 µm particle size with a standard milling process, while the reference flake graphite material could not mill below a 3 µm particle size as the graphite tends to agglomerate together.
    • It is concluded that the fine crystalline nature of Albany Graphite contributes to the relatively easy milling characteristics. This can be attributed to the unusual geological mode of formation (a rapid crystallization igneous process) which accounts for the superior crystallinity and overall quality of the graphite mineralization found in this unique deposit.
  2. Graphene exfoliated from Albany graphite produced material with the highest aspect ratio with an average thickness of 2.0 nm indicative of graphene with 2.4 layers. Also, the optical absorbance of the Zenyatta graphene dispersion was 2-10 times better than the other 3 reference samples that were tested. This demonstrated that concentrated graphene dispersions can be easily produced from Albany Graphite. The resulting small and thin graphene dispersion is suitable for printable inks.

This paper confirms the reason for success on the Company’s many graphene research and product development initiatives, especially in composites. Tokyo Tech has established that Zenyatta’s Albany Graphite converts (exfoliates) easily to graphene, producing mono-layer to tri-layer material with excellent dispersion properties and is highly suitable for many graphene and graphene-oxide applications.

Mr. Peter Wood, P.Eng, P.Geo., President and COO of Zenyatta, is the “Qualified Person” for the purposes of National Instrument 43-101 and has reviewed, prepared and supervised the preparation of the technical information contained in this news release.

INTERVIEW: Gratomic Chairman, Sheldon Inwentash Discusses Company’s First Mass Market Graphene Product – The Gratomic Tire

Posted by AGORACOM-JC at 4:36 PM on Thursday, April 26th, 2018

After working in “stealth mode” over the past 18 months and building on a plan to establish the first vertically integrated Graphite to Graphene to Mass Market Product, Gratomic has emerged with an announcement it will be going into commercial production this year via the “Gratomic Tire“.   This is no small feat. Graphene has been touted as a miracle material, a superhero of modern chemistry. Yet, no small cap company has been able to produce any commercial success from graphene.

That is all about to change according to the following statement by Ian Walters of Perpetuus Carbon Technologies:
“We can only conclude that the Gratomic Tire due to be launched later this year is well placed to revolutionise the commercial Tire market and establish the first Graphite mine to commercial exploitation “vertical” for graphenes derived from mined graphite.”
More than just lip service, Perpetuus has over 500 customers testing their graphenes and has tested every graphite in the world. Graphene derived from Gratomics’ Aukam Graphite Mine in Namibia has beat them all.
In his first interview ever as Gratomic Chairman, Sheldon Inwentash discusses why the global tire market is the first mass market product to evolve from its’ partnership with Perpetuus and how big of an opportunity it represents. In short, “this is where the rubber hits the road”.
Enjoy the video and we look forward to your questions below.

  •  16.64% Cg  over 18 metres in drill hole CK18-07
  • 4.94% Cg was intersected over 66 metres in Hole CK18-09

TORONTO, April 03, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Gratomic Inc. (“Gratomic” or the “Company”) (TSX-V:GRAT) (FRANKFURT:CB81) a vertically integrated graphite to graphenes, advanced materials development company is pleased to provide results from the diamond drilling program at its 100% owned Buckingham graphite project in Quebec. Results have now been received from all six holes, with assays up to 16.64% Cg (carbon as graphite) over 18 metres in drill hole CK18-07.

Gratomic’s Co-CEO Arno Brand stated, “The Buckingham results are inspiring and further validate that this asset has significant exploration merit.”

Highlights of the results received to date include a grade of 6.88% Cg over 62 metres in hole CK18-07, that included 12.75% Cg over 29 metres and included a higher grade 16.64% Cg interval over 18 metres, starting at a depth of 57 metres. A grade of 4.94% Cg was intersected over 66 metres in Hole CK18-09 from six metres, that included higher grade near surface intervals of 14.52% Cg over four metres and 13.52% Cg over three metres. A summary of the results is given in the table below.

The drilling follows up on positive results of previous work including airborne electromagnetics, trenching and a first stage drill program undertaken during 2016 and 2017. Hole CK-18-06 was drilled to the northwest to test the thickest portion of the 1.54 kilometre long northeast-southwest trending electromagnetic (EM) conductor and intersected low grade graphite mineralization associated with carbonate horizons in quartzo-feldspatic gneiss. Hole CK 18-07 was drilled to the southeast through the conductor between trenches 5 and 6 from the 2017 program. The hole intersected three graphite zones between 30 and 146 metres, with the highest grades associated with marble zones within gneiss. Hole CK18-08 was collared approximately 50m north of hole CK18-06 and drilled to the southeast. It intersected two graphite zones from 46 to 63 metres and from 95 to 108 metres with higher grades again associated with marble horizons. Hole CK18-09 was drilled to the northwest across a narrowing of the EM anomaly and intersected three graphite zones between 6 metres and 157 metres. Graphite mineralization in the near surface zone is associated with intervals of marble within the gneiss. Holes CK18-10 and CK18-11 were drilled across conductors in the vicinity of trench 2 and trench 10, respectively. Both holes showed relatively narrow intervals of graphite associated with marble.

All samples were placed in a plastic sample bag along with a sample tag. Bags were sealed with a single use tie. Samples were securely stored prior to shipping to SGS in Lakefield Ontario. Samples were crushed, milled and roasted and treated by HCl leach prior to being assayed by the combustion infrared technique (LECO). The Company routinely submits standards, duplicates and blanks with sample batches to monitor the quality of the assays.

The technical content of this News Release was reviewed and approved by Roger Moss Ph.D., P.Geo, a qualified person as defined by National Instrument 43-101.
