VANCOUVER, BC / ACCESSWIRE / February 27, 2019 / GREAT ATLANTIC RESOURCES CORP. (TSXV.GR) (the “Company” or “Great Atlantic”) is pleased to announce it has received all analytical results from the 2018 exploration program at its Golden Promise Property, located in the central Newfoundland gold belt, the results identifying additional exploration targets. The 2018 soil and rock analytical results confirm gold soil anomalies +/- rock samples anomalous in gold in at least three additional target areas in under-explored regions of the property. The Company’s main focus on the property remains the Jaclyn Zone where multiple gold bearing quartz vein systems occur. Gold bearing veins and gold bearing quartz vein boulders occur in other regions of the property.

Anomalous 2018 rock and soil samples were concentrated in three new targets areas:

  • Southwest region: Anomalous soil samples along two reconnaissance soil lines, up to 77 ppb gold (News Release of September 27, 2018). All 11 samples along one 570- meter long line returned anomalous gold values. Rock samples within the soil anomaly retuned anomalous gold values including 1.04 g/t gold.
  • East-Central region: Anomalous soil samples (up to 39 ppb gold) & rock float samples (up to 136 ppb gold) along a reconnaissance traverse.
  • West-Central region: Anomalous soil samples (up to 41 ppb) following up in an area of 2017 soil anomalies (212 and 236 ppb gold).
  • No previous drilling in the new target areas.

The 2018 program was reconnaissance in nature consisting of prospecting and soil / rock geochemical sampling in multiple under-explored regions of the Golden Promise Property. Multiple gold soil anomalies were identified in the southwest, west-central and east-central regions of the property, thereby adding to the number of gold targets within the property. Rock grab samples from float in the east-central and southwest regions of the property returned anomalous values for gold, the high value being 1.04 g/t gold.

Soil sample analytical results from the southwest region of the Golden Promise Property were reported in the Company’s News Release of September 27, 2018. The results include anomalous gold in soil samples from a new target area in this southwest region. The majority of soil samples from two reconnaissance lines in this target area returned anomalous values for gold (up to 77 parts per billion (ppb) gold) including all 11 samples from one approximately 570-meter long line. Nine of the 2018 rock grab samples (float and outcrop) from this anomalous zone returned anomalous gold values, the high value being a boulder sample with quartz veins returning 1.04 g/t gold.This anomalous zone is approximately 4 kilometers northeast of the Linda / Snow White gold bearing vein which is located within the southwest region of the property. Reported historic highlights for the Linda / Snow White vein include a 232 g/t gold grab sample, 29.7 g/t gold over 0.5 meters in a channel sample and 19.5 g/t gold over 1.15 meters during diamond drilling (core length).

The 2018 program confirmed an area of gold soil anomalies in the west-central region of the property. Initial reconnaissance soil sampling by the Company in this region during 2017 identified gold anomalies (including samples returning 212 and 236 ppb gold). Soil sampling in this area was continued during 2018 along 2 north-south lines. Six of seven soil samples from an approximately 300-meter long section of one line returned anomalous values for gold in the 8-41 ppb gold range, confirming this new target area. This zone of gold soil anomalies is located approximately 1 kilometer northwest of the gold bearing Shawn’s Shot quartz vein. A 0.32-meter long chip sample collected by the Company across the Shawn’s Shot vein in 2017 returned 48.2 g/t gold (News Release of August 28, 2017).

The 2018 program established a new gold target area in the east-central region of the property. Prospecting and soil sampling were conducted along one east-west reconnaissance line in this region. Approximately 25% of the soil samples along an approximately 2-kilometer section of this line returned anomalous values for gold (6-39 ppb gold). Rock samples from quartz boulders in this region returned anomalous values for gold (up to 136 ppb gold). The target area is approximately 2.2 kilometers south-southwest of the gold bearing Jaclyn Main Zone. The Jaclyn Main Zone has been the primary focus of historic gold exploration on the property.

The Company recently reported a National Instrument 43-101mineral resource estimate for the Jaclyn Main Zone, located in the northern region of the property (News Release of December 6, 2018; and Sedar-filed National Instrument 43-101 Technical Report on the Golden Promise Property, Central Newfoundland (revised), dated December 4, 2018 by Mr. Greg Z. Mosher, M.Sc. App., P.Geo., and Mr. Larry Pilgrim, B.Sc., P.Geo.). The reported inferred mineral resource estimate for the Jaclyn Main Zone is as follows:

The Jaclyn Main Zone is part of the Jaclyn Zone. At least 5 gold bearing quartz vein systems are reported at the Jaclyn Zone, including the Jaclyn Main Zone, Jaclyn North Zone, Jaclyn South Zone, Jaclyn East Zone and Jaclyn West Zone. Much of the reported historical exploration within the property has been focused on the Jaclyn Zone with the majority of historic drill holes (2002-2010) at the Jaclyn Main Zone. Other gold bearing veins within the property include Shawn’s Shot, Linda / Snow White and at the Gabbro Occurrence. High grade quartz boulders are reported within the property including at the Jaclyn Zone and Branden and Justin’s Hope boulder occurrences.

The property is located within the Exploits Subzone of the Newfoundland Dunnage Zone. Within the Exploits Subzone, the property lies along the north-northwestern fringe of the Victoria Lake Supergroup (VLSG), a volcano-sedimentary terrane. The northwestern margin of the Golden Promise Property occurs proximal to, and, in part, contiguous with a major (Appalachian-scale) collisional boundary, and suture zone, known as the Red Indian Line (RIL). The RIL forms the western boundary of the Exploits Subzone. Recent significant gold discoveries in this region of the Exploits Subzone include those of Sokoman Iron Corp. (TSXV.SIC) at the Moosehead Project and Marathon Gold Corp. (TSXV.MOZ) at the Valentine Lake Gold Camp.

Sokoman Iron Corp. (TSXV.SIC) recently announced a high-grade gold discovery on its Moosehead Property, located approximately 40 kilometers east-northeast of the Golden Promise Property. The discovery was made during the 2018 diamond drilling program. A drill intersection of 44.96 g/t gold over 11.90 meters core length was reported including a 1.35 meters core length quartz vein intersection of 385.85 g/t gold (Sokoman Iron Corp. News Release of July 24, 2018). The Valentine Lake Gold Camp of Marathon Gold Corp. (TSXV.MOZ) is located approximately 55 kilometers southwest of the Golden Promise Property. As reported on Marathon’s website, the Valentine Lake Gold Camp currently hosts four near-surface, mainly pit-shell constrained, deposits with measured and indicated resources totaling 2,691,400 oz. of gold at 1.85 g/t gold and inferred resources totalling 1,531,600 oz. of gold at 1.77 g/t. Readers are warned that mineralization at the Moosehead Property and Valentine Lake Gold Camp is not necessarily indicative of mineralization on the Golden Promise Property.

As reported in the National Instrument 43-101 Technical Report on the Golden Promise Property, Central Newfoundland (revised), dated December 4, 2018 by Mr. Greg Z. Mosher, M.Sc. App., P.Geo., and Mr. Larry Pilgrim, B.Sc., P.Geo., the Jaclyn Main Zone was modelled as a single quartz vein that strikes east-west and dips steeply to the south. Modelled vein thickness was based on true thickness derived from quartz vein intercepts. The estimate is based on 220 assays that were composited to 135 one-meter long composites. A bulk density of 2.7 g/cm3 was used. Blocks in the model measured 15 meters east-west, 1-meter north-south and 10 meters vertically. The block model was not rotated. Grades were interpolated using inverse-distance squared (ID2) weighting and a search ellipse that measured 100 meters along strike, two meters across strike and 50 meters vertically. Grades were interpolated based on a minimum of two and a maximum of 10 composites with a maximum of one composite per hole so the grade of each block is based on at least two drillholes thereby demonstrating continuity of mineralization. For the capped mineral resource estimate, all assays that exceed 65 g/t gold were capped at 65 g/t gold. All resources were classified as Inferred because of the relatively wide spacing of drill holes through most of the zone.

Because part of the vein is near surface the resource estimate was constrained by a conceptual open pit to demonstrate reasonable prospects of eventual economic extraction. Generic mining costs of US$2.50/tonne and processing costs of US$25.00/tonne were used together with a gold price of US$1,300/ounce. A conceptual pit slope of 45° was assumed with no allowance for mining loss or dilution. Based on the combined hypothetical mining and processing costs and the assumed price of gold, a pit-constrained cutoff grade of 0.6 g/t was adopted. For the underground portion of the resource a cutoff of 1.5 g/t was assumed. The cutoff grade for the total resource is the weighted average of the pit-constrained and underground cutoff grades.

The 2018 rock and soil samples were analyzed by Eastern Analytical Ltd. in Springdale, NL for gold by Fire Assay and for 34 elements by ICP. A qualified person managed and conducted the 2018 exploration program.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Feb. 05, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Labrador Gold Corp. (TSX-V: LAB) (“Labrador Gold” or the “Company”) is pleased to announce results from detailed gold exploration of its Hopedale project in Labrador. The company controls a 57 kilometre strike length of stratigraphy prospective for gold in the Florence Lake Greenstone Belt. The exploration program at Hopedale followed up on successful results of 2017 work that outlined regional scale gold in soil and lake sediment anomalies along the length of the belt and included detailed soil sampling, geological mapping, rock sampling and prospecting.

Detailed soil grids were placed over anomalous gold-in-soil targets with favorable geology and structure to develop specific targets for follow up leading to drilling. A total of 10,594 soil samples were taken on 12 grids at a 100m line spacing and 25m sample spacing along the length of the belt. Assays of the samples returned gold values from below detection (<5ppb) to 2,860 ppb. Thirty-four samples returned values greater than 100ppb Au, with five of these samples grading greater than 1,000 ppb Au (1g/t). In addition, over 1,000 soil samples with gold concentrations greater than the 90th percentile are considered anomalous and require detailed follow up. Arsenic values range from less than detection to the upper limit of 10,000 ppm with 90 samples assaying greater than 1,000 ppm.  Antimony values ranged between 0.05 and 171.5 ppm with eight samples assaying greater than 100 ppm.

Elevated gold values were found in samples from all 12 grids although the highest concentrations of samples with anomalous gold are found in the Thurber Dog, Jasmine and Misery grids (See news release dated November 2, for initial results from the Misery and Jasmine grids). Anomalous gold is typically found along the contacts (often sheared) between ultramafic rocks and adjacent mafic, meta-sedimentary or felsic meta-volcanic rocks. In addition, elevated gold concentrations may be associated with specific structures such as a jog in stratigraphy in the northern Thurber Dog grid, a fold nose in the south of the Jasmine grid and an interpreted shear zone running through the Misery grid. These structures are commonly associated with sites of gold mineralization in greenstone belts elsewhere in the world.

Arsenic concentrations are highest along a 4km north-south trend in the Jasmine Grid where massive arsenopyrite was found. Antimony appears to be elevated along interpreted structure, often forming elongate anomalies parallel to such structures as seen on the Misery and Schist Lake grids.

(TSX-V: LAB) (“Labrador Gold” or the “Company”) is pleased to announce results from detailed gold exploration of its Ashuanipi project in Labrador and Quebec. The exploration program at Ashuanipi followed up on successful results of 2017 work that outlined two regional scale gold in soil and lake sediment anomalies trending 15km north-south and 14km east-west. The property covers 892 square kilometres of ground prospective for gold.

A total of 7,458 soil samples were taken on 18 grids at a 100m line spacing and 25m sample spacing across the Ashuanipi north claim block. In addition, 61 reconnaissance soil lines were taken over claims staked in Labrador and Quebec following the results of the 2017 work. Results of analyses show significant gold anomalies in all but two of the 18 grids and confirm the 15km north-south anomalous trend (See figures at www.labradorgold.com). Analyses of the soils range from below detection limit, <0.5 parts per billion (ppb) to 8.97g/t Au, with 67 samples containing more than 0.1g/t Au and three samples containing more than 1g/t Au in the soil. In addition, 749 soil samples with gold concentrations greater than the 90th percentile are considered anomalous and require detailed follow up.

Gold anomalies do not appear to correlate with specific rock types, at least on a regional scale, but are often associated with magnetic highs which may be indicative of a structural control on the location of the gold.

(TSX-V: GR) (the “Company” or “Great Atlantic”) announces that it has received and filed on SEDAR a National Instrument 43-101 Technical Report, dated December 4, 2018 (revising a previous filed version dated November 28, 2018) (the “Report“) on the Company’s Golden Promise Gold Property, located in the central Newfoundland gold belt. The report was completed by Mr. Greg Z. Mosher, M.Sc. App., P.Geo., and Mr. Larry Pilgrim, B.Sc., P.Geo. The amendments in the December 4 version of the technical report principally relate to disclosure of QA/QC programs in Part 11 and data verification in Part 12. The material conclusions of both versions of the Report are the same.

The Report includes the following mineral resource estimate (Inferred resources) for the Jaclyn Main Zone, the maiden resource estimate for the Company on the property:

The Golden Promise Property hosts multiple gold bearing quartz veins and is located in a region of recent significant gold discoveries. The property is located within the Exploits Subzone of the Newfoundland Dunnage Zone. Within the Exploits Subzone, the property lies along the north-northwestern fringe of the Victoria Lake Supergroup (VLSG), a volcano-sedimentary terrane. The northwestern margin of the Golden Promise Property occurs proximal to, and, in part, contiguous with a major (Appalachian-scale) collisional boundary, and suture zone, known as the Red Indian Line (RIL). The RIL forms the western boundary of the Exploits Subzone. Recent significant gold discoveries in this region of the Exploits Subzone include those of Sokoman Iron Corp. (TSXV.SIC) at the Moosehead Project and Marathon Gold Corp. (TSXV.MOZ) at the Valentine Lake Gold Camp.

High-grade gold is reported in quartz veins and quartz vein boulders within the Golden Promise Property. Gold bearing quartz veins are reported in multiple areas of the property, including at least 5 gold bearing quartz vein systems reported in one zone referred to as the Jaclyn Zone, located in the northern half of the property. Much of the reported historical exploration within the property has been focused on the Jaclyn Zone with gold bearing vein systems reported at the Jaclyn Main, Jaclyn East, Jaclyn West, Jaclyn North and Jaclyn South Sub-zones. The majority of historic drilling (2002-2010) was conducted at the Jaclyn Main Zone. Significant historical work is also reported in the southwest region of the property at the Linda / Snow White vein, including grab sample reported to return 105 and 232 g/t gold, a reported channel sample returning 29.7 g/t gold / 0.5 meters, and a diamond drillhole intersection of 19.5 g/t gold / 1.15 meter core length. Gold bearing veins and gold bearing float are reported in other regions of the property.

The Report includes a mineral resource estimate for the Jaclyn Main Zone, the only area within the Property for which sufficient data exists to support a mineral resource estimate. The resource estimate was completed by Mr. Greg Z. Mosher, M.Sc. App., P.Geo.

The current mineral resource estimate for the Jaclyn Main Zone is based on assays from 107 drillholes (2002 – 2010). The drill core from most of these holes has been preserved at a Provincial Government storage facility in Buchans, NL. As part of the data verification process prior to the resource estimate, core from five (5) holes, representing a range of contained gold grades and locations within the zone, were examined and six (6) quarter-core samples were collected from three of these holes for verification of the original assay values. The six check samples were assayed for gold in 2018 at ALS Canada in North Vancouver. The following table shows the comparison of original and check assay values.

Discrepancies between the original and check assays are attributable to the fact that 1) original and check samples were collected from different portions of the core; 2) the gold is particulate in nature and therefore a high degree of variability exists between the half-core and quarter-core samples; and 3) the original samples were assayed using screened metallics to capture any coarse particles of gold whereas the check samples were of too small a volume to permit the use of screening and therefore some gold particles may not have been captured by the analytical process.

Original assay certificates for approximately 60% of the Jaclyn Main Zone assays were checked against assay values in the dataset used for the mineral resource estimate and no discrepancies were found. The results of QA/QC monitoring of drill core samples submitted for analysis during the period 2004 – 2008 and 2010 – 2011, were compiled and assessed. These measures include use of standards, blanks and duplicate samples, although not all measures were employed in all programs. Regardless, all QA/QC metrics fall within acceptable limits.

The zone was modelled as a single quartz vein that strikes east-west and dips steeply to the south. Modelled vein thickness was based on true thickness derived from quartz vein intercepts. The estimate is based on 220 assays that were composited to 135 one-meter long composites. A bulk density of 2.7 g/cm3 was used. Blocks in the model measured 15 meters east-west, 1-meter north-south and 10 meters vertically. The block model was not rotated. Grades were interpolated using inverse-distance squared (ID2) weighting and a search ellipse that measured 100 meters along strike, two meters across strike and 50 meters vertically. Grades were interpolated based on a minimum of two and a maximum of 10 composites with a maximum of one composite per hole so the grade of each block is based on at least two drillholes thereby demonstrating continuity of mineralization. For the capped mineral resource estimate, all assays that exceed 65 g/t gold were capped at 65 g/t gold. All resources were classified as Inferred because of the relatively wide spacing of drill holes through most of the zone.

Because part of the vein is near surface the resource estimate was constrained by a conceptual open pit to demonstrate reasonable prospects of eventual economic extraction. Generic mining costs of US$2.50/tonne and processing costs of US$25.00/tonne were used together with a gold price of US$1,300/ounce. A conceptual pit slope of 45° was assumed with no allowance for mining loss or dilution. Based on the combined hypothetical mining and processing costs and the assumed price of gold, a pit-constrained cutoff grade of 0.6 g/t was adopted. For the underground portion of the resource a cutoff of 1.5 g/t was assumed. The cutoff grade for the total resource is the weighted average of the pit-constrained and underground cutoff grades. The resource estimate for conceptual pit-constrained and underground at various gold cutoff grades and total resource estimate are tabulated as follows:

As discussed previously in this News Release, significant recent gold discoveries in the central Newfoundland gold belt within the Exploits Subzone include that of Sokoman Iron Corp. and Marathon Gold Corp. Sokoman Iron Corp. (TSXV.SIC) recently announced a high grade gold discovery on its Moosehead Property, located approximately 40 kilometers east-northeast of the Golden Promise Property. The discovery was made during the 2018 diamond drilling program. A drill intersection of 44.96 g/t gold over 11.90 meter core length was reported including a 1.35 meter core length quartz vein intersection of 385.85 g/t gold (Sokoman Iron Corp. News Release of July 24, 2018). The Valentine Lake Gold Camp of Marathon Gold Corp. (TSXV.MOZ) is located approximately 55 kilometers southwest of the Golden Promise Property. As reported on Marathon’s website, the Valentine Lake Gold Camp currently hosts four near-surface, mainly pit-shell constrained, deposits with measured and indicated resources totaling 2,691,400 oz. of gold at 1.85 g/t gold and inferred resources totalling 1,531,600 oz. of gold at 1.77 g/t. Readers are warned that mineralization at the Moosehead Property and Valentine Lake Gold Camp is not necessarily indicative of mineralization on the Golden Promise Property.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Nov. 02, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Labrador Gold Corp. (TSX-V:LAB) (“Labrador Gold” or the “Company”) is pleased to announce initial results from the first phase of detailed gold exploration in the Florence Lake greenstone belt (FLGB). The company controls a 57 kilometre strike length of stratigraphy prospective for gold in the belt. The exploration program at Florence Lake followed up on successful results of 2017 and included detailed soil sampling, geological mapping, rock sampling and prospecting along the length of the belt.

A total of 11,213 soil samples were taken on 12 grids at a 100m line spacing and 25m sample spacing across the FLGB. Results of 5,511 analyses received to date, primarily on two of the larger grids, Misery and Jasmine-Shirley, show significant gold anomalies typically associated with geological contacts. Analyses range from below detection limit, <0.25 parts per billion (ppb) to 2.22g/t Au, with 19 samples containing more than 0.1g/t Au. In addition, 551 samples greater than the 90th percentile are considered anomalous and require detailed follow up.

Gold in soil samples from the 5.7km by 2km grid covering the Misery carbonate alteration zone indicate four distinct soil anomalies with the two largest measuring 1,300m by 150 m and 750m by 100m, with nine samples containing more than 0.1g/t Au and ranging from 0.1 to 2.1g/t Au in the soil. Anomalies occur at the contact with ultramafic rock and felsic/mafic volcanic rocks and at the contact between ultramafic rocks and felsic intrusive rocks, both common sites of gold mineralization in greenstone belts.

Similarly, gold anomalies over the 2.6km by 0.6km Jasmine-Shirley soil grid occur along the contact between ultramafic rocks and sedimentary rocks (800m by 120m) and in a fold nose in the ultramafic rocks (400m by 250m) with values up to 0.36g/t Au in the soil. The Jasmine-Shirley grid also shows a strong arsenic soil anomaly associated with massive arsenopyrite mineralization with an along strike trend over 1km and highlights of between 0.1 and 1% As in the soil (see figures at www.labradorgold.com/Hopedale).

‘Results received for Misery and Jasmine-Shirley show specific gold targets, typical of greenstone hosted gold mineralization elsewhere in the world, defined by the detailed soil sampling on both grids, said Roger Moss, President and Chief Executive Officer of Labrador Gold. “Soil sampling is working to focus us on the highest potential mineralized areas of the belt and we will follow up these anomalies with detailed mapping, rock sampling and drilling during the next field season.”

These areas will be the focus of detailed mapping next season to identify high quality drill targets.”

All samples were dried in the field before being shipped to the Bureau Veritas preparation laboratory in Timmins, Ontario, with analyses completed at the Vancouver laboratory. Samples were analyzed for gold and another 36 elements by ICP-MS (inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry) following an aqua regia digestion. The company routinely submits blanks, field duplicates and certified reference standards with batches of samples to monitor the quality of the analyses.

The anomalies appear to be broadly associated with magnetic highs and do not show any correlation with specific rock types on a regional scale (see news release dated January 18th 2018). This suggests a possible structural control on the localization of the gold anomalies. VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Sept. 10, 2018 — Labrador Gold Corp. (TSX-V: LAB) (“Labrador Gold” or the “Company”) is pleased to announce preliminary results from the first phase of detailed gold exploration in the Florence Lake greenstone belt (FLGB). The company controls a 50 kilometre strike length of stratigraphy prospective for gold in the belt. The exploration program at Florence Lake followed up on successful results of 2017 and included detailed soil sampling, geological mapping, rock sampling and prospecting along the length of the belt.

A total of 7,783 soil samples were taken on 12 grids at a 100m line spacing and 25m sample spacing in the southern portion of the FLGB. All soils were dried for three days and analyzed by field portable XRF for multiple elements. Results show anomalous arsenic values in eight of the twelve grids with significant arsenic anomalies extending over 3.3km long by 800m wide and 1.5km long by 300m wide on the Misery grid and over 4.1km long by 600m wide on the Jasmine grid (see figures at www.labradorgold.com/Hopedale).

Given the good correlation of gold and arsenic anomalies shown by results of soil sampling during 2017, and the use of arsenic as a pathfinder for gold in greenstone belts, the results of arsenic XRF analyses are used to focus exploration for potential gold-rich zones.

The company is currently using an innovative technique, suggested by Technical Advisor Shawn Ryan, to follow up the soil anomalies. Geologists use a hand-held impact drill to drill 4 to 5 inch holes in outcrop in the anomalous area, collect the rock powder created and analyze it with the XRF while in the field. Use of a more homogeneous rock powder sample for XRF analysis than a simple rock chip allows for rapid in field assessment of the outcrops and further targets zones with potential for gold mineralization. Outcrops tested in this manner have shown arsenic anomalies on both the Jasmine and Misery grids (see figures at www.labradorgold.com/Hopedale).

Arsenic anomalies in soil and drill powder on the Misery grid coincide with a strong quartz carbonate alteration zone extending for more than 2km along strike. Anomalies on the Jasmine grid cover mafic volcanic rocks which are known to contain arsenopyrite locally in the wallrock of quartz veins (see news release dated August 14, 2018). In addition, recent prospecting in the vicinity of the soil and hand drill anomalies at Jasmine has uncovered a new arsenopyrite showing that has been followed along strike for 120 metres and remains open to the south.

Further follow up is ongoing with prospecting, channel sampling and structural mapping of the known and recently discovered showings.

XRF Analysis

Both soil and rock powder samples were analyzed by an Reflex Delta Model DP-2000-CC using Innov-X Delta advanced PC software. Prior to the start of analyses each day a routine calibration check was performed on the instrument using a Reflex Sandard “cal check” coin. Soil samples are analyzed at base camp and rock powder samples are analyzed at the sample site.

(TSXV.GR) (the “Company” or “Great Atlantic”) is pleased to announce it has commenced the 2018 exploration program at its Pilley’s Island Base – Precious Metal Property, located in north-central Newfoundland, Newfoundland and Labrador. The property was expanded in 2018 to 4,600 hectares, covering most of Pilley’s Island. The current work program consists of prospecting and rock and soil geochemical sampling on a regional scale covering multiple target areas. The Company confirmed significant levels of zinc, lead, copper, gold and silver mineralization during 2017 within the property at the Bull Road Showing. The Company is also planning a diamond drilling program for 2018 at the Bull Road Showing.

The focus of Great Atlantic’s work to date on the property has been the Bull Road showing, located in the southern region of Pilley’s Island. A trench was excavated in 2017 at this showing exposing sulfide mineralization over a northwest-southeast length of 130 meters with a width varying between 1-7 meters. The Bull Road Showing is a polylithic slump breccia of volcanogenic massive sulphide mineralization containing massive sulphide clasts up to greater than a meter in length. Sample results from this trench are reported in the Company’s News Releases of November 16 and December 14, 2017. Bull Road Trench sample highlights include (channel sample lengths are in meters):

  • 1.05m channel sample: 15.40% Zn, 6.60% Pb, 4.66% Cu, 111.5 g/t Ag and 1.008 g/t Au.

 

  • 0.70m channel sample: 17.30% Zn, 0.10% Pb, 2.97% Cu, 31.2 g/t Ag and 0.449 g/t Au.

 

  • 0.95m channel sample: 3.95% Zn, 0.73% Pb, 2.83% Cu, 62.2 g/t Ag and 0.613 g/t Au.

 

  • 1.00m channel sample: 2.96% Zn, 0.03% Pb, 3.27% Cu, 30.4 g/t Ag and 0.563 g/t Au

 

  • Outcrop grab sample: 40.8% Zn, 4.69% Pb, 6.08% Cu, 22.5 g/t Ag and 1.366 g/t Au.

 

  • Outcrop grab sample: 32.60% Zn, 1.30% Pb, 8.38% Cu, 148.1 g/t Ag and 1.421 g/t Au

 

  • Outcrop grab sample: 36.40% Zn, 5.50% Pb, 4.22% Cu, 59.9 g/t Ag and 0.325 g/t Au

 

  • Outcrop grab sample: 27.5% Zn, 20.0% Pb, 5.78% Cu, 63.4 g/t Ag and 0.314 g/t Au

The 2017 samples were analyzed at Eastern Analytical in Springdale Newfoundland (gold by Fire Assay – atomic absorption (AA); and copper, lead, zinc and silver by multi-acid digestion and AA). The channels samples were collected across selected clasts at generally right angles to the long dimension of the clasts.  The 2017 Bull Road trench sample data was verified by qualified persons who managed the sampling program and verified sample data.

Great Atlantic is planning a diamond drilling program for fall 2018 at the Bull Road showing.

The Pilley’s Island Property hosts the historic Pilley’s Island Mine, which operated during the 1890s and early 1900s. The Newfoundland and Labrador Department of Natural Resources reports historic estimated proven reserves of 1.159 million tonnes grading 1.23% Cu (referencing Grimley, 1968 as the source) or 627,373 tons at 2.34% Cu (referencing Walker, 1976 as the source ) in their Mineral Occurrence Database. David Martin, VP Exploration for Great Atlantic, states “These historical estimates of reserves are not reliable. The historical estimates are only relevant to the extent of identifying an area on the property for research and possible future exploration. The key assumptions, parameters, and methods used to prepare the historical estimates are not known.  A qualified person has not done sufficient work to classify the historical estimates as current resources or current reserves. A qualified person would need to complete sufficient work following CIM Best Practice Guidelines to upgrade or verify the historical estimates as current mineral resources or mineral reserves. This would almost certainly require additional exploration in the way of diamond drilling, trenching and / or underground work and corresponding sampling all of which must follow CIM Exploration Best Practice Guidelines.” Great Atlantic is not treating the historical estimates for the historic Pilley’s Island Mine as current mineral resources or mineral reserves.

Access to and infrastructure at the Pilley’s Island Property is excellent. The property is serviced with power mains and government maintained roads and is within 2 km of tide water. The property is located within a mining friendly district.

Readers are warned that historical data on the historic Pilley’s Island Mine referred to in this News Release have not been verified by a qualified person. A qualified person has not verified this data as the Company’s focus since acquiring the property in 2017 has been the Bull Road showing.

The sample will be processed utilizing ore sorting technologies to evaluate the viability of such technologies for processing the tungsten bearing veins on the Property. The Property hosts tungsten mineralization in multiple areas, including high grade pegmatite veins in the area of two quarries in the northern region of the Property. Previous grab samples collected by Great Atlantic from the two quarries exceeded 1% WO3 with some samples exceeding 5% WO3 (News Release of November 19, 2015).

Tungsten bearing pegmatite veins occur in the northern region of the property including at a quarry referred to as the South Quarry and an adjacent smaller quarry. The veins were first reported in the area of these quarries during the 1980s. Great Atlantic confirmed high grade tungsten mineralization (scheelite) in veins in rubble and bedrock at the two quarries during 2015 (News Release of November 19, 2015). Eleven rubble grab samples exceeded 5% WO3 (W % x 1.26 equals WO3%). A 20 cm long channel sample along a 15cm wide vein in the small quarry returned 2.96% WO3 while a grab sample from a 0.25 meter wide vein in the South Quarry returned 11.94% WO3.

 

Great Atlantic recently collected a bench scale sample of tungsten bearing vein material from the South Quarry for preliminary metallurgical studies. The sample will be processed utilizing ore sorting technologies to evaluate the viability of such technologies for processing the tungsten bearing veins on the Property. Great Atlantic is currently discussing ore sorting options with various processing companies.

A qualified person verified the 2015 sample data. The qualified person supervised the 2015 sampling. The 2015 samples (and lab-inserted blank, duplicate and standard samples) were analyzed at ALS Minerals in Sudbury, Ontario (ALS Minerals is independent of Great Atlantic Resources). Tungsten analysis was by lithium metaborate fusion followed by acid dissolution and ICP-MS analysis with some samples re-analyzed by XRF.

The company is also planning diamond drilling during 2018 on the South Quarry Property. The Company has received a permit to drill five holes in the northern region of the Property in an area where 2016 trenching exposed tungsten bearing veins.

 

The South Quarry Property covers an area of 3,600 hectares. Access to the property is excellent with a paved road transecting the property.
